Like many couples, Murry and Cindy Gerber are concerned about the future of our country. As parents and grandparents, they especially worry about a secure energy future and the condition of the environment. One of the most common topics after Murry retired as CEO of EQT in 2010 was, “What can we do to make a difference?”

While he was with EQT, Murry led the company in its transformation from a regional gas distribution company to one of the largest and fastest growing independent exploration and production companies in the United States. Though he is still a member of the Board of Directors, he now has time to pursue his particular interests and special projects.

Murry and Cindy believe that natural gas is the key for a cleaner, cheaper vehicle fuel that will help America’s energy independence. Cindy’s own experience as the Chief Deputy Public Defender for Allegheny County as well as private law experience makes her a ready advocate for our country’s greener future.

Murry and Cindy hit upon the idea of a cross country Hummer Tour as a way to show that Natural Gas Vehicles (NGVs) are a viable form of daily transportation. In the American tradition of responsible citizens, they are using their own funds to finance the Tour, including issuing grants to school programs across the country that foster ingenuity in the fields of science and engineering. Along the way they’re hoping to talk to as many people as they can about the benefits of NGVs.

Their dog, Seamus is just along for the ride -- always shamelessly ready for a road trip, whatever the cause.
